استخدام الأرقام جزءًا لا يتجزأ من حياتنا اليومية، سواء كنا نقوم بحساب الوقت، أو نشتري أشياء من المتجر، أو حتى نتعلم اللغة الإنجليزية. ولذلك فهم الأرقام والقدرة على استخدامها بثقة يعدان أساسيين في التواصل اليومي. في هذا المقال، سنغوص في عالم الأرقام باللغة الإنجليزية ونستكشف كيف يمكن للمتعلمين الناطقين بالعربية فهمها واستخدامها بسهولة، كما نستعرض العمليات الحسابية والتاريخ والوقت بشكل مختصر حتى تكون قادراً على استخدام الأرقام في جميع الأهداف.
تتكون الأرقام الرئيسية في اللغة الإنجليزية من الصفر إلى التسعة (0-9). هذه الأرقام تستخدم كلغة مشتركة للتواصل وتمثيل الكميات والأعداد.

أمثلة باستخدام الأرقام الأساسية:

عندما نصل إلى العدد 10، نستخدم تكوين مختلف لتكوين الأعداد. مثل:

12 Twelve
13 Thirteen
14 Fourteen
15 Fifteen
16 Sixteen
17 Seventeen
18 Eighteen
19 Nineteen
أمثلة باستخدام الأرقام ما بعد التسعة:
I have ten fingers and ten toes.
In soccer, each team consists of eleven players.
A dozen eggs typically contains twelve eggs in a carton.
Teenagers are individuals aged between thirteen and nineteen years old.
My little cousin turned fourteen yesterday.
A standard clock has sixteen numbers on its face.
There were seventeen colorful balloons for the birthday celebration.
The legal age for voting in many countries is eighteen years.
A score of nineteen out of twenty on the quiz made Sarah feel proud.
ثم، نستخدم مزيجًا من العدد وكلمة "Twenty" للوصول إلى العدد 20 وما بعده:
20 Twenty
21 Twenty-One
22 Twenty-Two
23 Twenty-Three
24 Twenty-Four
25 Twenty-Five
وهكذا نستمر حتى الثلاثين وما بعدها...
20 Thirty
21 Thirty-One
22 Thirty-Two

ونستمر بنفس النمط لما بعد العدد 30 و 40 وهكذا…
أمثلة باستخدام الأرقام ما بعد العشرين والثلاثين، إلخ:
Our classroom has twenty-one desks.
The basketball team scored twenty-two points in the game.
I have twenty-three stickers in my collection.
There are twenty-four hours in a day.
I bought a pack of cookies, and it had twenty-five treats inside.
I counted twenty-six colorful balloons at the birthday party.
My cat has twenty-seven toy mice to play with in its basket.
There are twenty-eight students in my classroom.
My little sister will turn twenty-nine months old next week.
I have thirteen pencils in my pencil case.
I baked fifteen cookies for my friends.
عندما نصل إلى الرقم 99 يليه المئة، فنُعبر عنه كالتالي:
100 Hundred
101 One hundred and one
102 One hundred and two
103 One hundred and three
104 One hundred and four
105 One hundred and five
وهكذا نستمر حتى 199 وبعدها 200 (two hundred) ونسير على نفس النمط السابق.
أمثلة على استخدام الأرقام بعد المئة في اللغة الإنجليزية:
I scored a hundred on my spelling test.
I have read one hundred and one pages of my favorite book so far.
I planted one hundred and two flowers in my garden last spring.
I have saved two hundred dollars in my piggy bank.
I bought a puzzle with two hundred and five pieces.
I collected three hundred and fifteen seashells during my beach vacation.
وهكذا حتى نصل إلى الرقم 999 ثم يتبعها الآلاف:
1,000 One thousand
1,001 one thousand and one
1,002 one thousand and two
وهكذا بتتابع نفس نمط الأرقام حتى 10,000 (ten thousand)
ونفس التكرار مع عشرات الآلاف، ومئات الآلاف، والملايين، والمليارات، وهكذا، حسب مقدار الرقم.
1,000,000 One Million
1,000,000,000 One Billion
أمثلة على استخدام الآلاف والملايين في اللغة الإنجليزية:
I have saved a thousand dollars in my piggy bank.
I wrote a story, and it turned out to be one thousand and one words long.
The school won a one-million-dollar grant for new books and equipment.
The company's revenue reached one billion dollars last year.
تعلم الأرقام ليس مجرد حفظها، بل يتضمن أيضًا فهم كيفية استخدامها في العمليات الرياضية. إليك بعض المصطلحات الأساسية:
الجمع: Addition
الطرح: Subtraction
الضرب: Multiplication
القسمة: Division
أمثلة على العمليات الرياضية في اللغة الإنجليزية:
5 + 3 = 8 (Five plus three equals eight)
10 - 4 = 6 (Ten minus four equals six)
